Hearts to you

Valentines day hearts for the bunting I made for Katelyn. They were so much fun to make and I absolutely love the little one in the middle. I got the pattern from here and it was very easy to follow. After I made my first one I just oohed at how smooth all of it looked. 

I can't wait to finish my own set of them. I will admit that I was going to do something different and do a heart then a mustache because I saw that she liked them but I just could not find (or make) a pattern for a really nice flat and larger crochet one. It may be something I have to sit down and make in some free time for to make my own pattern. If anyone didn't see what I got from Katelyn in the last post, she made me a wreath! 

I adore it! 

Time to put on Pandora radio and clean up the house more. Mr. Love will be home around dinner and he was away @ work for two weeks this time. Martinis + movie + Mr. Love = Heaven. 

Goodbye 2011

As I finish off this year, I'll do what all the hip moms are doing, lols. Here are my favorites of 2011.

I like my photo collages, nothing better than remembering the really fine moments that I've had with my little one. I can't say we went to the beach this year, or did really cool museums, but we were together,  and that is all that matters.

While my bogging is slow now, my family has lost a very wonderful person. Though we continue to tear for her, she has filled all of our hearts with so much love. And she will always be loved and remembered.

I hope that everyone has a happy and safe new years.Cheers to the next one being even more fab.

Catching up

There have been quite a few things going around over here. But most of all I have been internet lazy. Good in a way really because I have been able to finish some things and start some others and spend some good time with my son and hunny. Last week we found our selves in New Jersey for an emergency for loves work and since he couldn't get a flight out fast enough he drove and took us all with him! <3 That weekend we went to Petco and adopted a kitty, which is something that I have been wanting to do for about a year or so. And she is adjusting to us thank goodness and loving that she has so many places to snuggle and be comfy. She really loves my blanket that I usually drape over the side of the couch!

Almost Two months old, she is our little girl tortie and with the help of my little one we have named her Pumpkin. She is really a blessing to the house and is adjusting well I think. In other news - You know those slippers I had been working on with different materials and it not working for me? Well yhea, my second material I was using for them was ribbon yarn that was gorgeous but that didn't end up working as they seemed to look like it was a pattern for a giant. So, on Saturday before I went to pick up our new Pumpkin I went to a craft store and picked up the following yarn -

I love both of them so much and am currently on the lookout for a good pattern using patons lace, but I used the other (that reminds me of an adorable watermelon when its all put together like that.

I really love them and am wearing them now. I did have some sizing problems with all patterns and I didn't want a strap across the top of them, so I made my own pattern and hello... I think I'm in love. :)

Sorry for the slight mark on my ankle, stupid bugs living next to the woods. But I love the height and everything. They don't slip off and are comfortable with everything. I have heard lots about people saying to use cotton yarn for slippers, and I did end up using wool but when I saw the yarn I just knew its purpose already. :) - Also I created another pattern as well and got lots of yarn to make some more, gathering stock for etsy. With a little of my sons help on keeping trying it on again and again it seems my first is his and I'm so happy he loves it! Introducing the Dinosaur hat -

Its so hard to get him to sit still for a picture as he turns three next week but I am glad that he likes it and it looks so cute on him.

That ones a little blurry and white balance is off but you can see his smile. He loves to wear it with his dino shirt. And something fantastic happened last week - I got my Cosmo Cricket Mystery Box  and I love everything that is in it!!! I am making a Halloween mini album from some of the things that came in it. I am really surprised what all came in it, here is a peek-

So much paper, and I've never used blackboard and coloring it with colored pencils is a blast! I am having so much fun with what I received and will be posting lots of pictures. I think that overall this is my second favorite paper ever.
What a fantastic last two weeks and I hope everyone is having fun as fall settles in around us.

Thankful Tues.

Yay, the front of my mini album is pretty much done. I like how I antiqued it. I am taking my time on this one and really doing what I enjoy and adding one thing at a time and feeling it out. I don't think I'll be a person who makes lots of mini albums but this one is good. Updating on the crochet - Last night I went to finish a ballet flat slipper and looked at it funny and went oh no this is way too big. It was the yarn I was using, too bulky, so when I did my double crochet it made it looong. Lol. Should have seen my face, like oh dear, I don't know if big foot likes crochet slippers. (though that would be a hoot) So I restarted with one of my favorite yarns and it looks sooo pretty. So I am hoping it works out and will show you when I'm done as its a secret on the yarn. tee hee.

I've been realizing that I'm awfully thankful lately. Thankful for- my son saying in his toddler talk that he loves me, it not even being a year yet but when he climbed into bed and actually pulled the covers up on himself that for me was the most amazing thing ever (dunno exactly why), that its fall, of books on my nook to read at night when I can't sleep, of my family and friends, and really really hot showers and cotton capris and hoodies for my not feeling well week.

My cousin came down yesterday and we went to JoAnns and then out to eat at a steakhouse, where her son and I proceeded to throw peanuts at one another. Her son and mine got cowboy hats from a nice waiter. And I came home with lots of stickers and small mats of cardstock. Overall a good day and a fabulous way to start the week. :)

Cuddly weekend

Hope every one is having a good weekend so far, my son and I have been cuddling up allot on the couch and chaise because I have been under the weather. But we have managed to get a few things done. I really do love that every morning after we have our juice we go outside and water the plants and we don't have to soak them since it has stopped being over ninety degrees every day.

Friday we took two mason jars that were laying around up in a cubbard in the kitchen and spray painted the inside of them (well, more I did since I had him stand up on the porch away from the fumes). I am going to use one for my crafting tools that I use the most and end up lying on my desk anyway and the other for maybe some flowers. I got the idea here and here.

I am working more on my sons blanket I am crocheting him but it is the largest crocheting project I have made thus far and its getting a little tedious so this morning I have started to make a pair of crochet ballet slippers so that when I pick up my crochet basket I don't feel so much like whining because I'm only working on the same ol' project. I do hope that I'm not the only one to feel that way!

Also yesterday we got a nice surprise in the mail. My cousin in Texas had sent my son and I a package in the mail! My son got a teddy bear all suited up in an army outfit, and I got four sheets of stickers, pictures, a coffee cup and some hot sauce. She knows me so well!! :) The only thing with my hot sauce collection is that we use them all. Tee hee. Both Love and I use lots of hot sauce and love it.

I have started to make my first mini album and am very excited about it thou the glitter I applied to part of it yesterday did not make me super happy. :( Turned out looking more green than the white that it was in the bottle. I'll take a better picture of it when I become more sure and proud of it again.

Also on Monday I will be getting this in the mail because the last time Love sat in the car and I ran into JoAnns I picked up a Crop-A-Dile and am super happy about it but have realized its a little too clunky to have laying around on my desk and want a place for it. So into the case it will go. I love that it has the two punches and the eyelet setter all in it. Now I can get rid of the cheap hole punches I have sitting around and the little plastic piece broke off of (seriously that is beyond annoying).

But today I am just now drinking my coffee having spend the whole morning and noon with my son and am going to start to make a Halloween card make and take for when my cousin from northern Pa here comes down. When I got my Cricut Expression 2 in the mail and we got moved into our new house I gave my pink Cricut Expression to her and I'm so happy that she has one now too! Just like she gives me incredible ideas for crocheting, now we can trade ideas for paper crafting stuff too! So excited.

I've caught the owl 'bug'

Both owls will be for sale when my cousin and I start up our Etsy site either later this month or next. But I love love loved making them. I adore them! I don't know what exactly made me catch the owl bug either! I know the white one was my first and I thought I was going to make a bean bag bottomed bunny... but that didn't happen. In one day I created a cute little snow owl! And the other was created in three days only because I had allot of other things going on. She doesn't have a bean bag bottom and is chunky'er than the snow owl. I haven't named her yet either... she should have a cute little girls name. I have made another but I am sewing in the zipper currently because she is a little handbag whos eyes are buttons and wings are pockets.... super cute. But she will come on a later post when I have her finished.
I look places and see owl stuff and it just grabs my attention. I even bought owl stickers the other day!! ( I thought they would look cute on the tags for the above ) I know the whole owl thing has been out for a while now and I'm late to catch on, but how cute! And I had so much fun making them as I used no pattern so each is different and I don't have to keep referring to a pattern to see what to do next. <3 Because really, unless its a video pattern, I hate them. Even though there are dozens of cute ones online and in books.
I think my next crocheted item will be a zombie or a Dino. But I might have to hide the Dino from my two year old if I did because I am sure that he would steal it as his own. Tee hee. Oooooh, ok there is another owl project I did, but its not really for sale. I made one for my son ( without the teether ) and two with a teether for my cousins baby. -

But I can actually say that I let my son pick out the fabric for it. He must have caught on to seeing them everywhere around me and thought he might as well go with it too. And each of the boys love their blankies/taggies so much. I had to sneak to get my son to go into another room to get his in the laundry today too! He had spilled milk on it and goodness knows I don't want him snuggling up to that when its all smelly. Thank goodness he has three others in different designs. I also made my cousin's son a blankie/taggie in the shape of a car to match his nursery but have misplaced the photo at the moment. But trust me its absolutely adorable!
